Course describes the responsibilities of the designated observer/spotter prior to the start of an excavation project as well as during the excavation itself. It addresses the permits, notifications, and line locating the must be completed before excavation, excavation hazards and associated safety regulations, excavation tools, sloping techniques and soil types, pipeline support methods, and the abnormal operating conditions that may occur during an excavation.
